"Let me guess. Someone stole your sweet roll?"
Bethesda Studios' Skyrim is the latest in their action-playing, open world series. Produced by Bethesda Studios and produced by Bethesda Game Studios, the fifth installment in the action-roleplaying series was released November 2011. The game is only currently available on PC, Xbox and PS3. Bethesda published the game with a RRP of £54.99, although it can now be bought for around £20.
The game sees you thrown into the ancient land of the nords; Skyrim. On the plane of Tamriel. You start of the game facing the ancient dragon Alduin. The game progresses as you find a way to stop him tearing apart Skyrim.
You can duel wield weapons, toss fireballs at your enemies, or shoot them with an assortment of weapons. Combat in skyrim is as advanced as any other elder scrolls game.
The main audio in the game, and the game's theme song 'Dragonborn' were created by composer Jeremy Soule. Using a choir of 30 men, he layered it three times to create the effect of a 90 man choir.
The game uses the Havok Physics game engine. This allows Bethesda to implement the ragdoll effects seen when fus-ro-dah'ing that poor little boy through the streets of windhelm, or power attacking a shetland cow in slow motion and seeing it crumple. Okay, so maybe not the best collisions.
The most notable thing in Skyrim is the effort that went into the scenery and all the graphics. As you first travel from Helgen to Riverwood you see bleak fells barrow and it looks truly amazing.
